We offer a range of bicycle services to make your journey easier. If you’re travelling with a bicycle either to or from the airport, here’s what you need to know.
Arriving with a bicycle
When flying into Christchurch Airport, you will need to collect your bicycle from the oversize baggage collection point at your conveyor belt.
Departing with a bicycle
When flying out of Christchurch Airport, your bicycle will need to be packaged properly.
- Air New Zealand has bike boxes available to purchase, subject to availability. Contact your airline before your flight or at check-in to enquire.
- The Travel Store offers a bicycle packing service using recycled bicycle boxes and heat sealed straps. The bicycle must be dismantled to fit into the box and it's the owner's responsibility to do this. Please contact The Travel Store directly for rates or more information.
Bicycle assembly areas
These are convenient places to disassemble or assemble your bike, free of charge. Each station is equipped with tools, bike pumps and stands for you to hang your bike on.
- Located outside in the plaza, next to Door 4 and between Doors 5 and 6
E-bike charging stations
We provide two e-bike charging points where you can charge up your ride, free of charge.
- Located at the bike racks on the ground floor of the Express Park building
Bicycle storage
We offer two options for those needing to leave their bicycle at the airport.
- Unsecured – Lock and leave your bicycle in the bike racks, located under the Express Park building
- Secure – Store your packed bicycle at The Travel Store.
