If you need additional help

We're committed to providing assistance that is readily accessible to all members of the community. When planning your journey, please remember to let your airline know about any special assistance you may require.

While here, you can also look for our Airport Ambassadors, who are here to help every day from 8am - 4pm. You can find them at one of our information desks, located on the ground floor.

Braille ATMs

The ATMs at the airport feature a raised dot on the number 5 to help you locate the centre of the keypad.

Doors

Our airport doors are automatic and wide enough for wheelchair access.

Hidden disabilities

As part of our commitment to helping all members of the community, we’re proud to participate in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme. We’ve put all the information you need to know about wearing a sunflower lanyard, as well as the support and facilities available at the airport, together in one place. Learn more here

We're also a proud supporter of the Hāpai Access Card. The Hāpai Access Card is acknowledged at the airport in the same way as the sunflower lanyard and lets our staff know you may need extra help and support. The Hāpai Access Card can be worn instead of, or as well as a sunflower lanyard.

Lifts

Automatic lifts provide access to all levels of the terminal.

The lift located next to Door 5 has glass windows. If you have vertigo, visual access needs or balance issues there are two alternative lifts located nearby on the Ground Floor. These will take you to Level One and the lifts can be found on the airport map.

Luggage trolleys

Trolleys are free of charge and available throughout the terminal and in our car parks.

Medical assistance

Please contact your nearest Airport Services staff member if you require urgent medical assistance while at the airport.

Mobility car parks

All car parks at Christchurch Airport offer mobility parking spots for vehicles with a valid disability card. The closest mobility parks to the terminal are located on the ground floor of the Express Park building. There is no time restriction mobility car parks, however standard parking charges apply.

If you're being picked up or dropped off, The Loop has dedicated mobility parks as you exit on the left hand side.

Parent rooms

Parent rooms, equipped with changing facilities, are located throughout the terminal

P.A.W.S (Pups Assisting With Stress) programme

We're delighted to provide a team of furry helpers, in the form of pet therapy dogs. These four-legged friends are available in the terminal during peak periods, ready to help calm nervous travellers. To find out when the friendly pups from Hato Hone St John will be visiting the terminal for pats, cuddles and “paw-fives” visit our Events page, or you can learn more about the P.A.W.S programme here

Pharmacy

There isn’t a pharmacy in the terminal. If you need prescription medication, head to Unichem at Spitfire Square, just a short walk from the terminal.

Showers

Shower facilities are available in Check-in, International Departures and International Arrivals. You will need to provide your own toiletries.

Taxis and shuttles

Super Shuttle and many different taxi operators have facilities for wheelchair users. When booking, please mention any special assistance you require.

Toilets

All toilets throughout the terminal have mobility access. View our airport maps for the location of all toilets, including those with baby change facilities, showers, mobility access and all gender toilets.
