What do you do as a Senior Project Manager? I look after all the projects around the outer campus. Our small Project Delivery team manages new developments from initiation and feasibility through to construction and finally hand-over to our Asset Management and Property Management teams.
What do you love most about your job? It’s full of variety and problem solving – no two days are the same. It’s also highly collaborative and I get to interact with other departments within the business.
Favourite project you’ve worked on so far? Canterbury Linen Services. It was quite different from what we normally do, with a woodchip boiler, a huge water holding tank and lots of sustainability features. It was very technical and challenging, but a really good learning curve.
Any advice for someone wanting to start a career at the airport? I've spent a lot of my working life in New Zealand here at the airport, and I love it. There are so many different work streams and opportunities for growth, whether upwards or sideways. It’s social too, and there are educational opportunities. It's a really nice place to work.
What keeps you busy outside of work? Mostly my Staffie, Doug. He's my fur baby. On the weekends I take him on adventures with my husband, to the Port Hills or the beaches. Amazingly, Doug has 3,500 followers on Instagram – more than me and my husband combined!
Wow, where can we see this infamous doggo? His handle is the_notorious_d.u.g
Favourite highlight from 2023? Eloping with my husband! We got engaged in Stewart Island a few years ago. We’d planned a small wedding in Italy, but with COVID it all got too hard (and expensive). My parents were coming over this year, so we thought, let’s do it. We ended up eloping on Valentine’s Day in the Port Hills. It was just us, a photographer, the celebrant, mum and dad… and of course, Doug.
What’s something you’re looking forward to? Being able to travel again. I'd love to take my husband to Europe and show him around. I lived in Greece and travelled the world before I came to New Zealand. It would be good to stretch my wings again.
What’s your go-to South Island holiday spot? That's a tricky one, there are so many nice places! One spot we really love is Robinson's Bay near Akaroa. There’s a dog friendly holiday home there that’s perfect for weekends. That would be our favourite getaway.
