Escape the winter blues
July school holidays in the islands…? Winter weekend in Oz…? Sunbathing in Asia or summering in Europe? Yes you can! And now’s the time to book.
With the cold drawing in, it’s time to dream of sunny islands and warm escapes. We’ve got great news for travellers, as flights continue to pick up and more destinations come back on line.
We’re excited that together with our partner airlines we can offer greater flexibility in which day of the week you travel, at what time, and where you go to.
Plus, with more choices of destinations and airlines, there’ll be more options for travellers – that’s good news for those who are on the hunt for low fares or great deals!
Where’ya headed?
Asia & Europe:
Singapore Airlines, which currently flies out of Christchurch four times per week, will be increasing to daily flights from 28 June. With one-stop connections throughout Asia, including favourites such as Phuket, Maldives and Hanoi, plus connecting flights into Europe including London, Paris and Rome, the world is your oyster!
Australia & the Islands:
There are growing opportunities for trips closer to home too. Christchurch is well connected with non-stop flights to Fiji (Fiji Airways), Sydney (Air New Zealand and Qantas), Melbourne (Air New Zealand and Qantas) and Brisbane (Air New Zealand and Qantas).
The ever-popular Gold Coast will once again be a direct hop away with Jetstar and Air New Zealand restarting services from 25 June and 3 July respectively. Around the same time, we’ll see even more flights to the wonderful world of Oz, including Melbourne on Jetstar (from 24 June) and Fiji on Air New Zealand (from 5 July).
Choice? Choice!
If your mind is boggling a little at the options, we’re not surprised! But we are stoked. Because at the end of the day, the main message is that travel options are increasing, which is fantastic news for those wanting to take to the skies this winter.
Nick Ashley, Airline Development Manager, sums it up nicely.
"Most international flights here at Christchurch Airport are now packed full of eager travellers reconnecting with friends, family, colleagues and clients, or simply enjoying an overdue overseas holiday," he says. "It’s great to see that our airline partners are responding to demand by providing more services to Singapore, Australia and Fiji over the coming weeks. Then later in the year the Emirates A380 will make its long-awaited return, complete with a brand-new Premium Economy cabin. This will be an exciting New Zealand first that reinforces Christchurch’s status as the gateway to the South Island."
